Illuminarium at The Distillery District
We’re seeking a skilled and experienced AV and networking Technician to oversee the audio & visual & networking systems for Secret Location x Illuminarium’s first Canadian site in the Distillery District. The venue will host a series of projection-mapping immersive experiences that utilize the latest technology in the field as well as experiment with new kinds of shows.
An ideal candidate will have experience in live show production across multiple disciplines, including networking, audio engineering and video production; and experience working with fixed guest experiences in the areas of audio and video system commissioning, programming, show control, and technical direction. If you have great experience in one of these areas and interest in learning others then you are a great candidate.
Any candidate must have proficiency in each of the following areas:
- Projection systems
- Live show production
- Video signal distribution
- Audio gain staging
- IP Networking, routing, subnets, VLAN, QoS, DHCP, DNS
- Windows Server & Desktop Administration and Networking
- Linux system management and networking
- AV system networking
- System troubleshooting
- Working without supervision
- Good communication
- Quick decision making
- General computer use for installing and configuring programs, changing windows network and display settings, email, slack, etc.
A great candidate will have one or more of the following qualifications:
- Microsoft MCSE
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent
- Disguise Fundamentals Certification
- Q-SYS Level 1 or 2 Certification
- Dante Level 1, 2, or 3 Certification
- Medialon Certification
- Lightware Extender Experience
- Show Control Experience
- LUA, Powershell and shell Scripting
- Projection Study and Maintenance Experience
- Live FOH Mixing
- Live Video Engineering
What you will be doing:
- Regular maintenance of all experience technology equipment in the venue.
- Documenting maintenance, faults, downtime, and needed improvements.
- Being on call during your shift to resolve any problem that may arise as quickly as possible.
- Interfacing and building collaborative relationships with the operations and events teams to ensure they have the technology they need to make a seamless experience for our guests.
- Preparing and operating equipment for live events in service of the guests and events team.
- Collaborate with, learn from, and teach team members from each discipline and venue so that we can operate as a team and cover for each other as needed.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Experience:
live show production: 3 years (required)
AV system networking: 3 years (required)
License/Certification:
Disguise Fundamentals Certification (preferred)
Q-SYS Certification (preferred)
Dante Certification (preferred)
Cisco CCNA or equivalent (preferred)
Special physical requirements:
The employee must be able to regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift 75 pounds. Specific vision acuity requirements include close vision, depth perception, and color recognition. This person will frequently be required to be on step ladders up to 12′ and extension ladders to 26′. Occasional use of a man-lift up to 40′ will also be required.
