Description
At Local Projects, members of the Creative Technology team (CTs) are intuitive problem solvers and are always seeking new and innovative ways to tell stories with interactive technologies. As such, CTs are unique for their breadth of knowledge across stacks/tools and for their curiosity and continuous dedication to learning new skills. This makes CTs able to identify and then utilize the right tool for the job no matter what the challenge.
Each CT brings a unique perspective and specialty to the team and we are searching for a CT that has a specialty in Software Engineering and is passionate about designing and building rock-solid software, systems, and solutions that support our creative projects and interactive media.

Requirements
Responsibilities include:
- Designing, delivering, and supporting end-to-end full-stack solutions that include cloud and on-premises applications
- Contributing to requirements gathering and software technical specifications
- Rapid prototyping and building lightweight proofs-of-concept to vet creative ideas and technical possibilities
- Writing clean, test-driven, well-documented code with a focus on stability, performance, and maintainability
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation
- Implementing CI/CD solutions, automated testing, and development tooling
- Participating in Jira/agile development process
- Supporting existing projects by triaging bug reports and maintaining legacy systems
Required Skills / Expertise
- Excellent communication skills to form strong, trusted relationships with the technology team, across disciplines and with company leadership.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for flawless delivery
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to new environments
- Ability to thrive in a TDD / BDD-based environment
- Proficiency with version control and workflows with Git/Github
- Diagramming technical approaches and software/hardware system design
- Proficiency with modern Javascript and HTML/CSS, including Nodejs, React, Vue
- Experience with Relational Databases (MySQL / Postgres) and Document Stores (Mongo, Couch etc.)
- Experience integrating with 3rd party tools via APIs, sockets, hooks, etc.
- Experience with API design/implementation and mocking for testing using web server libraries such as Express.js or Next.js
- Experience with headless CMS technologies, such as Directus
- Familiarity with Python
- Familiarity with configuring Webserver/Reverse Proxy such as Nginx, Apache, Caddy, etc
- Familiarity with cloud service providers: AWS, Azure, GCP, etc
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized workflows
Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with C-style programming languages, such as C# and C++
- Web application architecture & system design
- Mobile-first development practices
- React Native Development
- Experience with Microservice design and architecture
- Serverless architectures & systems, AWS Lambda, Azure, Firebase functions, etc.
- Basic hardening techniques for security and privacy data management
- DevOps and CI/CD pipeline management, such as Github Actions and Jenkins
- Infrastructure-as-code, such as Terraform and Ansible
Bonus Points
- Graphics programming on the web such as WebGL or Three.js
- Game Engine development experience Unity and/or Unreal
- C++ Creative Coding frameworks OpenFrameworks, Cinder
Hourly Rate: (Commensurate with experience)
$85.00 – $125.00
