Full job description

Responsibilities:

– Reporting to the Post Producer and serving as VFX Artist on GoodShort mini web series.

– Designing and developing 3D assets such as characters, creatures, environments, and props to enhance the visual storytelling of our shows.

– Collaborating with the creative team to conceptualize and execute compelling VFX sequences that align with the thematic elements and narrative of each episode.

– Integrating 3D assets seamlessly into live-action footage, ensuring a cohesive and immersive viewing experience for our audience.

– Utilizing industry-standard software and techniques to animate characters and objects, simulate natural phenomena, and create dynamic visual effects.

– Optimizing 3D models and VFX elements for performance and compatibility across various platforms and devices.

– Managing and organizing project files, assets, and resources to facilitate efficient workflow and collaboration within the production team.

– Keeping abreast of emerging trends, tools, and techniques in 3D animation and VFX to continually enhance the quality and innovation of our content.

– Collaborating with directors, producers, and other team members to brainstorm ideas, provide creative input, and troubleshoot technical challenges throughout the production process.

– Ensuring adherence to project timelines, milestones, and budget constraints while maintaining the highest standards of quality and artistic integrity.

– Contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment, fostering creativity, innovation, and teamwork among fellow artists and colleagues.

Requirements:

– This position requires strong artistic sensibilities and technical skills, where we’re looking for someone passionate about making episodic content, who is an excellent problem-solver, and an effective communicator.

– Experience with simulation and Animation/VFX software (FumeFX, Blender, Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, etc.)

– Compositing knowledge (After Effects, Nuke, Fusion, Photoshop, etc.)

– Demo reel or website showing previous VFX work.

– Ability to work collaboratively between different departments as well as independently, and be able to drive initiatives through to completion.

– Eye for timing, weight, realism, color, volume, energy, and other particle aesthetics.

– Ability to create all required art assets needed for particle effects and level atmospherics.

– Experienced technical ability within VFX, and strong general skills in understanding multiple disciplines.

– Able to stay within budgets and understand platform limitations.

– Strong troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.

– Ability to perform rigid body and soft body simulations/animations.

Preferred Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Animation, Interactive Media or related field.

– Ability and equipment to work from home if needed.

– Understanding of scripting and programming concepts

– Bilingual in Mandarin is a plus.

– Experience in 2D animation and storyboarding is a plus plus.
