Full job description

We are seeking an Electronic Assembly Technician to join our tight-knit creative studio with an international reputation for creating interactive artworks and installations.

The Electronic Assembly Technician will be part of our dedicated production team. The Electronic Assembly Technician plays a key role in the production of our interactive digital Artworks, ensuring each piece is assembled and tested to the highest standard. They will focus on assembling, wiring and testing all digital artworks. A very good understanding of electronics is essential as the candidate will be responsible for checking and testing all artwork builds before installation.

The candidate will also be working as part of our team participating in artwork installations, which require regular travel.

Key responsibilities:

  • Completing various assembly tasks involving hand soldering, cable and wire assembly and general assembly techniques for production.
  • Use of electrical test equipment
  • Monitoring component stock and placing purchase requests.
  • Support with creating documentation

Requirements:

  • Confident using hand tools such as crimping tools, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, cements, press fits, or similar hand tools.
  • Confident soldering components
  • Experience following documentation and design to a high degree of accuracy.
  • Track record of delivering projects on time within scope
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging systems
  • Able to clearly communicate technical solutions with peers and non- engineering colleagues.

Beneficial, but not essential:

  • Some experience of both AC/DC systems
  • Programming C/C++/Python
  • Experience with microcontrollers Arduino/ESP32/Raspberry Pi
  • Familiarity with the Nvidia Jetson family
  • Experience working in R&D environments
  • Experience with LCD panels and custom LVDS interfaces
  • Working within the creative industry/experience working in a studio environment
  • Experience working on site
  • Driving license
  • Valid PAT test certificate.
