We are seeking a creative Lighting Technician to join our production team. The ideal candidate will have a background in designing, programming, and operating lighting systems, including DMX-compatible fixtures and laser systems. This role is crucial in enhancing the visual experience for our nightlife events. Lighting technicians are hired on a per-event basis, and pay will depend on experience, abilities, and if they are bringing any of their own lighting equipment. Lighting experience is required, but this does not have to be from a formal workplace, and those will informal experience are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities May Include
- Operate and program lighting consoles and laser control systems during live events.
- Design and execute lighting plots and laser shows based on event requirements and artistic direction.
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot DMX-controlled lighting equipment, lasers, and other visual effects.
- Collaborate with other crew members to achieve creative goals.
- Ensure all lighting and laser systems are installed and operated safely according to local regulations and safety guidelines.
- Perform pre-show checks, focus sessions, and potentially rehearsals to ensure lighting and laser systems perform flawlessly.
- Maintain, service, and inventory all lighting and laser equipment.
- Stay up-to-date with new technologies, software, and techniques related to lighting and laser systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a lighting technician in live events, concerts, theater, or similar productions.
- Strong knowledge of DMX protocols, addressing, and fixture configuration.
- Proficient in programming and operating lighting consoles
- Experience with professional laser systems and laser control software
- Solid troubleshooting skills for both hardware and software.
- Familiarity with health and safety practices for laser operation and electrical systems.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to fast-paced environments.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)
- Experience with multimedia integration (video, projection mapping, timecode sync).
- Basic knowledge of rigging and stagecraft.
- Familiarity with automation or special effects (fog, CO2 jets, pyrotechnics).
Work Conditions
- Occasional travel for off-site events may be required.
- Working in low-light and high-noise environments during shows.
