Alchemy Escape Rooms
Alchemy Escape Rooms, Inc. is a Fort Lauderdale-based creative experience company that designs and builds fully immersive, tech-driven escape games. We blend storytelling, virtual reality, and electronics to deliver one-of-a-kind adventures that push the boundaries of themed entertainment.
We are currently in the set and prop installation build phase of a multiple escape room build out. We’re looking for an experienced Arduino/ESP Systems Developer and Technical Designer to join our team and help complete both new and existing high-tech props.
Job Overview
You’ll be responsible for designing, programming, assembling, and installing interactive props using Arduino and/or ESP-based systems. Most of the work will take place on-site in Fort Lauderdale, where props are being installed into completed game sets. Some remote work is possible (for programming, PCB design, etc.) but must be tracked live in ClickUp and fully documented to qualify for payment.
Each prop has a defined scope, timeline, and milestone-based deadline — and you’ll be expected to complete assignments on time. This is a contract-based role, so compensation is based on performance completion of preset milestone and assignments.
Responsibilities
- Build, install, and troubleshoot both new and existing Arduino/ESP-based props
- Integrate sensors, motors, audio, and lighting into immersive physical environments
- Develop and/or refine custom PCBs for durability and functionality
- Collaborate with set builders, artists, and designers during weekly on-site progress
- Clearly document all work, wiring, and logic inside ClickUp (mandatory for payment)
- Maintain clear communication on milestones and deadlines
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Arduino and ESP microcontroller programming
- Ability to integrate microcontrollers with sensors, actuators, relays, sound, and lights
- Strong understanding of escape room prop design constraints (durability, user safety, resetability)
- Hands-on skills with soldering, multimeters, oscilloscopes, prototyping
- Accountability to deadlines and project scope
- Ability to work independently and onsite during buildout hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with I2C, SPI, MQTT, and wireless communications
- Experience designing for immersive games, escape rooms, or themed entertainment
- Creativity in solving spatial and electrical design challenges under deadline
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative production environment

- Schedule: Flexible, but must meet firm milestone deadlines for each assigned prop
- Remote Work: Allowed for programming tasks, but must be tracked and documented in ClickUp to be eligible for payment
- Start Date: Immediate
