Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Art is searching for an Arts Technician to join their team for the Fall Semester. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.
The Arts Technician will support the classes and activities at the off campus 477 Melwood building. There are two primary courses that require in-class support, and out of class preparation of media systems for use during class time: 60408 Advanced ETB: Expanded Cinema, (Friday’s 10-12:50 & 2-4:50) and 54498 Expanded Theater (T/R 12 – 2:50pm).
Core responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the faculty to plan the media systems, student workshops, and conduct small in-class and limited out of class instruction on the equipment (analog video & audio mixers, camera systems, projectors) and software systems, (Millumin, TouchDesigner, After Effects), and other technical needs as the semester evolves.
- Maintaining safety and security of the spaces and the equipment before, during and after class time.
- Providing advice and feedback to Teacher and Students on processes and projects.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of proven experience

- Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity.
- This is a part-time (30 hours/week), non-exempt position.
- Fixed Term: This is a fixed term position.
