Associate Creative Director, Experiential

The Associate Creative Director, Experiences on the Storybuilding team is a strategic and experienced creative who understands how to use design and content to fuel compelling brand experiences in physical spaces. The ACD assists the Creative Director and leads other members of the Storybuilding creative and project teams in strategically and creatively defining solutions to meet our clients’ needs. The ACD will provide creative solutions while meeting project scope, developing concept treatments, and working with production to bring those elements to life (on time and on budget) in physical space. As a creative leader in the work, you will help guide Hyperquake’s output with experience related to many facets of design: graphic, digital/interactive, motion graphics, immersive installations, videos/storytelling and conceptual design thinking – ensuring all creative output meets and/or exceeds both agency and client expectations. The ACD is responsible for communicating strategic goals into actionable design solutions in a collaborative environment. They mentor and guide other designers while also executing work as a trusted leader alongside the entire Hyperquake team.
About the Storybuilding Team: Storybuilders create immersive experiences in physical spaces: destinations for humans to engage with ideas and brands in uniquely memorable ways using content, design, and interactive technology. The environments we design—innovation centers, brand experience centers, executive briefing centers (EBCs), pop-up activations, and mobile venues—seek to captivate clients and their guests while reflecting Hyperquake’s core values: Build Ideas, Incite Passion, Be Real, and Respect One Another.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Use your deep knowledge of the client, their audience, and the craft of experiential storytelling to craft experiences concepts.

• Works daily with the Storybuilding design team and members of the Leadership team (particularly CDs) to ensure all projects meet and/or exceed expectations.
• As an Associate Creative Director, you will help lead, mentor, and cultivate a creative culture rooted in our core values. These responsibilities include:
• Mentoring and advising other Designers and Co-ops and be a sounding board for new hires, needs, and internal processes, etc.
• Potentially help lead a specific part of the business or a specific client to ensure consistency with the brands and businesses we serve
• Collaborating with (and selection of) copywriters, vendors, partners, freelancers, etc.
• Works to achieve the desired fiscal goals of Hyperquake and has the ability to teach, inspire and grow the individuals on an assigned team by understanding how design impacts the entire business within Hyperquake and for our clients (challenges, client goals, performance, results of our work, etc.).
• Responsible for helping guide our creative execution to ensure it is in alignment with strategic positioning, content is accurate, messaging is appropriate, and clearly meets the project’s objectives (from concept to production/in-market)
• Thinks and communicates at a high level about a client’s business, strategy and consumer/customer behavior.
• Works collaboratively with the Creative Director and team to help formulate and execute ideas to collaboratively determine project scope, budgets, timing, expectations, etc.
• Involvement with new business prospects in order to attract and retain key clients.

What we’d like you to bring to Hyperquake:
  • Degree in Graphic Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Art, Design Communications, Interior Design or related major or equivalent work experience in professional field.

• 7-10 years experience designing in a physical environment.
• Priority setting and effectively managing multiple projects at one time.
• Design Calendar management skills.
• Project management skills/approach to design including project requirement definition, scoping, planning resource allocation and management, and delivery to time, scope, quality and budget.
• Strong communication, persuasion and presentation skills.
• Strength in working with others – listening, managing and motivating.
