Job Description:

Purpose: Support the creation and implementation of strategies that inform the creative development of projects within Meow Wolf’s expanding and connected creative ecosystem, from core exhibitions to media/content in all forms and across all platforms and distribution systems/mediums.

Location: Santa Fe, NM

Compensation: This is an exempt position; compensation will vary based on experience.

The Associate Creative Strategist reports to the Chief Creative Strategy Officer, or their designee, and will be responsible for contributing to the development , communication and implementation of creative strategies that will then be crafted into inspiring project briefs and assignments for Studio projects inclusive of exhibition creative development, new media initiatives, new content forms, traditional and emerging media, and other projects that are integral to Meow Wolf’s creative expansion.

We are seeking an inspired strategist and communicator who has the capacity to synthesize existing guidelines, cultural and audience insights, creative and business objectives into clear, inspirational and actionable briefs and assignments. Your ability to understand and playfully express the inputs that will lead to the most wildly original and creative outcomes is paramount.

You are passionate about the intersection of art, tech, and storytelling and are motivated to see the Meow Wolf Universe deepen engagement with participants and broaden reach through new forms, in new expressions, in new mediums. You are motivated by the paradigm shifts happening in art + storytelling, and want to bring your enthusiasm to bear upon the work. Generative AI intrigues you; you see meaningful art + story possibilities in NFTs and other emergent forms; and you’re a likely first adopter of breakthrough AR/VR/XR technology.

You embrace the power of transmedial storytelling to world build, and are motivated to make exciting and meaningful story connections across the Meow Wolf Universe. While the evolution of the work motivates you, you also value forms of traditional media and the role it plays in a connected creative Meow Wolf ecosystem.

You are incisive, clear and persuasive with your words while also demonstrating a knack for expressive language. As Associate Creative Strategist, you will receive input from leading stakeholders in the form of both verbal and written material, and you must be nimble in distilling this material and turning it into actionable and inspiring briefs that enroll the many artists, writers, technologists, producers and others who will be guided by your articulation of the creative and business challenge.

As Associate Creative Strategist, you know the importance of collaboration, particularly when it comes to working with individuals and teams across the Studio and company (EVP of Creative Strategy + Development; SVP, Creative Director, Emerging Media; Exhibition Development, Marketing, Story and more). You are open to receiving and implementing strategic and creative feedback, and you know when to take initiative to drive the assignment to fruition.

You are critical to the success of MWU STUDIO projects, ensuring the articulation and/or distillation of assignments is connected to our Meow Wolf Universe. You will be essential in building and elaborating these connections via new forms.
