Job Title: Associate Experience Developer

From museum exhibits and zoo installations to interactive attractions, Roto brings extraordinary ideas to life. As an Associate Experience Developer, youll be at the heart of this processhelping to develop, prototype, and refine interactive experiences that captivate audiences.
The Associate Experience Developer is an entry-level position designed for a curious, hands-on, and multidisciplinary individual interested in the full lifecycle of exhibit and experience development. This role provides an opportunity to learn Rotos design-build process while supporting projects in research, writing, prototyping, content development, vendor coordination, and interactive development.
Ideal candidates are creative problem-solvers who enjoy working across disciplines, are eager to explore new technologies and materials, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role is a great fit for those who are interested in immersive and interactive experiences, but do not strictly identify as designers, coders, or fabricators.
Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to)
- Creative Development & Research: Support the development of interactive, content-driven exhibitions by conducting research on themes, narratives, audience engagement strategies, and interactive methodologies.
- Prototyping & Testing: Get hands-on in Rotos shop and prototyping lab, testing materials, building mockups, and exploring how ideas work in real space.
- Exhibit Development & Documentation: Support the creation of experience outlines, interactive specifications, exhibit scripts, and design documentation packages.
- Project Coordination: Help manage schedules, prepare meeting materials, take notes, track action items, and communicate updates to studio team members.
- Sourcing & Vendor Coordination: Research, source, and purchase materials, equipment, and components while coordinating with vendors to bring exhibit elements to life.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work with Rotos designers, engineers, and fabricators to ensure seamless integration of physical, digital, and interactive elements.
- Installation Support (As Needed): Assist in on-site installations, testing, and hands-on adjustments to exhibits and interactive components.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- A naturally curious, hands-on problem-solver with an eagerness to explore, test, and refine ideas.
- Interest in interactive experiences, emerging technologies, and storytellingwhether through physical exhibits, multimedia, or hands-on installations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present research and ideas clearly.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, CAD software, or 3D modeling tools is a plus.
- Experience with hands-on fabrication, interactive prototyping, or physical exhibit development is a plus but not required.
- Degree in a related field (e.g., experience design, museum studies, industrial design, creative technology, theatrical production, engineering) preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift and move 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, remain in a stationary position, and work with computers and other equipment throughout the shift.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically or internationally as required.
