Creative Developer for interactive art installation based on digitized historical library materials
Project Premise:
This art installation is based on the vast digitized collection of a historically significant library with immense cultural and intellectual value. The collection, made up of thousands of pages from ancient books, manuscripts, and rare texts, represents an invaluable source of knowledge and creativity accumulated over centuries.
The project aims to use this rich material as the foundation for an immersive experience, where the digitized pages will be interconnected with generative images created in real time. Through an interactive interface, visitors will explore the library’s texts and generate unique and personalized visualizations, combining textual content with generative graphics that respond to the information selected.
This installation seeks not only to highlight the historical significance of the library but also to reimagine its material in a contemporary context, where technology and art intertwine to offer a multisensory experience. The visualizations, generated using advanced coding techniques and algorithms, will act as a bridge between the past and the present, providing users with a novel way to interact with historical and literary knowledge.
Project Description:
The goal of this project is to develop an interactive, multisensory art experience based on generative art that transforms thousands of digitized pages into dynamic, real-time visualizations. The installation will allow visitors to select from more than 70 different criteria through an advanced search interface, generating real-time visualizations that integrate text and generative images.
The visualizations will be created using technologies such as Perlin Noise, fractals, and advanced frameworks like p5.js, Three.js, and TouchDesigner, offering a rich and immersive visual experience. In addition, the installation will incorporate real-time interaction through touch interfaces or motion sensors, enhanced with sound and lighting effects to maximize the sensory impact.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and program an advanced search interface using technologies like Elasticsearch or Solr, allowing users to explore the digitized library content.
- Create and design generative visualizations in real time, combining textual content with dynamic graphics using tools such as p5.js, Three.js, TouchDesigner, and others.
- Implement advanced visual techniques like fractals and Perlin Noise to generate unique, interactive images based on user-selected content.
- Integrate real-time interaction technologies, such as touchscreens or motion sensors, so that users can control and manipulate the visualizations.
- Collaborate in creating a multisensory immersive experience that combines graphics, sound, and lighting effects, providing an unforgettable experience for visitors.
- Work closely with designers and other developers to ensure the seamless integration and flow of the experience.
- Ensure both the artistic and technical quality of the installation by providing creative solutions to technological challenges.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in developing interactive installations or projects based on generative art.
- Proficiency in frameworks and tools like p5.js, Three.js, TouchDesigner, or similar.
- Experience with search engines like Elasticsearch or Solr for handling large volumes of textual data.
- Knowledge in creative programming and techniques for generating images using algorithms such as fractals or Perlin Noise.
- Familiarity with creating interactive interfaces using motion sensors, touchscreens, and other real-time interaction technologies.
- Ability to integrate multisensory elements, such as sound and lighting effects, into interactive experiences.
- Strong teamwork skills with attention to detail and artistic quality.
Benefits:
- Opportunity to work on an innovative project that combines art, technology, and the cultural legacy of a historic library.
- A creative and collaborative work environment with access to cutting-edge technology and resources.
- Competitive compensation based on the experience and skills of the selected candidate.
