Overview of North America (NA) Marketing + Communications

The North America Marketing + Communications team shapes and activates marketing and communications strategies across the marketing lifecycle that fuel growth for Accenture’s $20B+ North American market (United States and Canada). Its cross-functional team drives category brand positioning in the North American market, curates end-to-end client experiences to drive the local growth agenda, empowers and positions Accenture’s leaders, and engages and inspires the company’s North American people, recruits and alumni. YOUR ROLE:

Accenture Marketing + Communications Strategy seeks a Creative Technologist to join their internal R&D team. The successful applicant will join two other experienced senior developers to form a three person team. The Creative Technology R&D Strategy team is a good fit for smart, self-motivated, DIY “Maker” types – software and hardware technology generalists, capable of learning new technologies and applying them in user-friendly and inspiring ways. The team offers deep technology systems development skills for internal use by other Marketing & Communications teams. Our broadest corporate function promotes Accenture’s offerings as an advanced technology consulting company and employer.

The role being filled will focus on the online experience – in particular, web development that brings the R&D team’s varied work to an online, global audience. The R&D work itself follows emerging technology trends, and takes many forms, depending on what is called for – 3d worlds, 2d games, extended reality, ad campaign builders, photo-booths, camera capture, robotic arms, sensing & interaction and real-time systems have all been featured, and we expect the variety to continue. For this role in particular, underneath it all, strong basic skills are required: good coding practices, good communication skills, solid web development experience and a facility with networked APIs are all paramount.

A typical project cycle varies between 6-12 weeks, though R&D is often called in as internal consultants on shorter projects in motion, to brainstorm, to ensure they’re viable, to offer technology-steering advice and sometimes do a quick prototype or build. R&D works internally to aggregate the requests and feedback that come in across many projects and turn them into reusable platforms for use by the wider Marketing and Communications team initiatives. These might be design tools, online campaigns, in-person events, virtual events, office installations and/or something completely new. Versatility is key. We are a small, fairly nimble team, but we operate within a large Marketing & Communications division, within a very large company. As a result, part of our work involves learning to navigate the corporate landscape, to ensure that our results “Land well.” (End up in the right spot for a given purpose, meet various compliance metrics, etc.) This position is an excellent opportunity to learn new technologies and grow one’s skill set in a professional creative coding environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical/engineering/relevant discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 1 year creative-coding experience at school or work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid coding skills and background
  • Web development experience ( working knowledge of pure Javascript, html, css, nodejs server )
  • Responsive styling experience
  • Source code control experience: We use Git/SourceTree: similar to svn, cvs or other SCM toolchains
  • Git/SourceTree know
  • Nodejs Snowpack bundler
  • 3js/A-Frame or other in-browser 2D/3D frameworks
  • Augmented Reality experience: 8th wall, Spark or other authoring environment
  • C/C++/C#/ObjC (used in some of our work/apis)
  • Networked communication: SocketIO, websockets or other.
  • Game engines: Unity, Unreal or other
  • 3D production: Modeling/Animation/Surfacing/Rendering, etc.
  • Real-time interaction tools: Touch Designer/Houdini, Resolume or equivalent
  • Graphic/visual arts abilities (we work with Designers, but not always)
  • Copy-writing skills (we work with Writers, but not always)
  • Python scripting language

Professional Skills:

  • Enthusiastic about the promise of technology, yet aware of its pitfalls and shortcomings
  • Creative thinker with a strong sense of possibility and the ability to bring a vision to life.
  • Good, confident communicator; Abilities to: pitch an idea, tell a story, explain tech to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrable track record of self-initiated technology projects, preferably viewable online
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented & responsible.
  • Skilled in seeking out and discovering useful libraries, frameworks and other pre-existing tools.
  • Ability to independently research, scope, define and execute a strategic technology development plan
  • Demonstrated leadership in professional setting; either military or civilian
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian

As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Accenture provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $90,288 – $148,900 and information on benefits offered is here.
