The V&A AV team is responsible for supporting the V&A deliver technology, ensuring key AV services are delivered in line with Business requirements.

Main Purpose of job:

The Exhibitions Audiovisual Technician is required to support Exhibitions staff with specialist technical support and services related to the day-to-day maintenance of all hardware components for all temporary exhibitions at South Kensington, and to ensure that all equipment and software is well maintained and functioning in order to provide the highest level of visitor experience and enjoyment. To assist the Visitor Technology Partner and his team to deliver world class visitor experiences across the permanent galleries of the V&A in South Kensington and across other V&A London sites.

The Audiovisual Technician is required to have an in depth understanding of audio visual equipment, covering audio installations, lighting setups, projection equipment and integrated interactive hardware and software. They should have an up to date knowledge of current digital experience equipment, interpretation and trends within the industry.

The V&A presents a rolling programme of exhibitions -that feature a substantial amount of audiovisual content, both interactive and non-interactive, delivered on a range of platforms and hardware, which will require significant technical support. In addition, the Exhibitions Audiovisual Technician is required to work with and manage the Exhibitions department’s audiovisual hardware inventory and coordinate the use of equipment, booking this equipment out with contractors to deliver AV hardware and content into the exhibitions programme.

The Exhibitions Audiovisual Technician is required to manage the ongoing relationships with all Audio Visual contactors delivering content and technology into the various exhibition galleries. They will undertake project management duties relating to the deployment of equipment and content into service, working with internal and external stakeholders.
