Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Theatre Technician to join our dynamic team. This role involves producing high-quality visual content, sound and lighting provisions in an established Theatre in Hampshire. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in EOS, QLab and have a keen eye for aesthetics and detail. Responsibilities

  • Prepare, install, and operate lighting, sound, and AV equipment for rehearsals and performances.
  • Assist with rigging and stage setup as required.
  • Conduct pre-show checks on all technical equipment.
  • Operate lighting and sound consoles during performances and events.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and fire regulations.
  • Work closely with directors, designers, and stage management to achieve creative and technical goals.
  • Support get-ins, fit-ups, rehearsals, performances, and get-outs.
  • Adapt quickly to last-minute changes and troubleshoot technical issues during live performances.
  • Support fellow technicians and volunteer crews.
  • Communicate effectively with production staff and visiting companies.
  • Provide technical advice and training to junior staff, apprentices or users when needed.

Requirements

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Technical Theatre, Stagecraft, Production Arts, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1–3 years working in a technical theatre, live event, or performing arts environment.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in lighting (DMX systems, ETC/Strand consoles, EOS).
  • Sound engineering and live mixing experience.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations (PAT testing, working at height, manual handling).
  • Problem-solving and multitasking under pressure.
