The Instructor NT is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities to teach full-time and to provide appropriate service. The Instructor NT may participate in research or creative activities.
Description of Primary Duties
Teach new media art skills to all levels of undergraduate majors using industry software, four courses per semester (4/4), within an inclusive classroom environment that engages diverse learners. Course assignments will depend on the strengths of the appointee but would include some combination of the following: creative coding, digital foundations, animation, motion graphics, 3D modeling, time-based media, or physical computing.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
An earned terminal degree or the degree required for teaching in certain disciplines is required. Potential or demonstrated teaching ability is required. A willingness to serve the academic unit, college, and the University is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Additional Qualifications
Master’s degree (MFA preferred) in new media, digital arts, electronic arts or related area and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: digital foundations; creative coding; installation; interactive or immersive environments; time-based media, motion graphics and animation. Technical expertise with industry software is expected. Must demonstrate teaching ability either formally or informally.
