JavaScript Developer

Goodbeast is seeking a full-time contract Javascript developer to join our team. This position will be responsible for making updates to a variety of client websites and apps built using Vue.js, Amazon Web Services serverless tools, and other Node.js based tools.

This is currently a remote position. It may convert to an onsite position in downtown, Washington, DC, at some point in the future.

Goodbeast is a creative agency in Portland, OR, and Washington, DC. Our team of strategists, designers, and engineers make everything from custom apps to headless content management systems, from virtual events to immersive installations and digital marketing campaigns to e-commerce websites.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prototyping and exploring how functionality best works with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Developing modern, attractive front-end interfaces for clients using HTML, SVG, SCSS, and open source frameworks.
  • Integrating APIs from various providers to create fast, static websites.
  • Troubleshooting code and figuring out how to fix it.
  • Explaining technical problems to less technical colleagues.
  • Participating in code reviews and remote pair-programming sessions.
  • Collaborating with others using git.

Requirements include:

  • A minimum of two year’s experience working primarily in Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
  • A minimum of two year’s experience working with Vue.js.
  • A “systems thinking” mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience with other languages (Java, C, Python, etc) a plus.
  • Experience with creative coding tools (Max/MSP, Processing/P5.js, Vuo, TouchDesigner, etc) a plus.
