About the Role
The Show Systems Designer leads the design and execution of the technical systems that power Memoir’s immersive experiences—from concept through commissioning.

This role translates creative vision into fully realized technical systems, defining the hardware, software, infrastructure, and control solutions that bring shows to life. You will own system architecture, guide technical scope, and ensure all programmed elements—from lighting and audio to effects and control—operate seamlessly in the field.

This is a highly collaborative and hands-on leadership role that bridges creative, technical, and operational teams to deliver stable, scalable, and impactful show experiences.

What You’ll Do
1. System Design & Technical Scope
Translate creative direction into clear technical systems, defining requirements, constraints, risks, and infrastructure needs
Design show control, networking, and signal flow architectures across lighting, audio, and programmed elements
Develop technical production plans including system layouts, equipment selections, and integration strategies
Define site-wide infrastructure needs, including power distribution and connectivity

2. Documentation & Standards
Produce clear, concise technical documentation including system diagrams, configuration guides, and operational workflows
Establish standards and best practices for show systems across projects
Build documentation that enables seamless handoff to run-of-show and site teams
Contribute to scalable system design frameworks that can be reused across Memoir projects

3. Deployment & Commissioning
Lead on-site system commissioning, calibration, and validation during install and pre-show periods
Ensure all systems are installed and operated in compliance with safety standards and venue requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve system issues throughout the project lifecycle
Train site teams on system operation, troubleshooting, and escalation procedures

4. Asset & System Readiness
Oversee testing, validation, and readiness of technical assets prior to deployment
Develop and refine technical kits and system packages for efficient installs
Ensure all components are installation-ready and aligned with project requirements
Support long-term system reliability through maintenance planning and post-show evaluations

Documentation is clear, actionable, and empowers site teams to operate independently
Systems are scalable, reusable, and continuously improved across projects
Install and commissioning phases are efficient, organized, and well-executed
Technical solutions elevate the creative vision while remaining reliable in real-world conditions

Qualifications
Required
7–10+ years of experience in show systems design, creative technology, or technical systems for live events, themed entertainment, or immersive environments
Strong experience translating creative concepts into complete technical system designs
Proven ability to design system architecture including signal flow, networking, and integrated hardware/software environments
Working knowledge of show control protocols (DMX, sACN, Art-Net, OSC, MIDI, timecode)
Experience deploying integrated systems across lighting, audio, and programmed show elements
Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
Ability to create clear technical documentation and operational workflows

Preferred
Experience with TouchDesigner, MadMapper, or similar tools
Experience leading on-site commissioning and technical teams
Familiarity with producing technical production books and site plan packages
Experience working in fast-paced, multi-site production environments

Work Environment & Schedule
Full-time role with flexibility based on production schedules
Travel required (approximately 25–35% depending on projects)
Evening, weekend, and on-site work required during install and live operations
Work environments include office, warehouse, and active production sites
