Purpose: To oversee video system designs for Meow Wolf’s exhibitions, events and shows.
Location: Santa Fe, NM
Compensation: This is an exempt position. The starting pay for this position is $85,000. Compensation will vary based on experience.
Video Design is one of the creative mediums that Meow Wolf utilizes to tell stories, create a sense of setting, and to intrigue patrons. This is achieved using various techniques from the very subtle to the very overt. The Show Video Designer position will oversee video system designs for assigned Meow Wolf projects. This includes driving design, drafting, and/or review of video systems for Meow Wolf exhibitions, events, traveling exhibits/shows, and other special projects. Additionally, this position will guide installation of video systems to make sure they are installed as designed, and be a touch point for tech maintenance and/or operations staff who service and maintain video equipment.
You will oversee the design, drafting and review of Meow Wolf’s video systems, thereby contributing to a visually spectacular and lively experience for our guests.
How you will do it…
Collaborate with key stakeholders to guide development and documentation of creative intent for video in assigned Meow Wolf projects.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to guide placement of screens, projectors, and other in exhibition video hardware to support creative intent.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to design show video playback systems using a combination of industry standard tools (BrightSigns, AV Binloop, etc) and custom designed solutions (TouchDesigner) to support creative intent
Program, test, install, and debug video software and hardware in exhibitions.
Program, test, install, and debug show video programming.
Establish relationships with industry vendors for contract work.
Support installation and document the systems after completion of each project.
Research cutting edge technologies, software, and equipment to better implement and support creative designs.
Help advocate for new video experiences through cross-team brainstorming sessions, workshops, and demonstrations.
To be successful in this role…
You bring 4+ years of professional experience with immersive video design
You are experienced at concealing and integrating screens, projectors, and video hardware, without drawing attention to the equipment
You have experience developing and commenting on show packages using Revit, AutoCad, Bim360, and/or BlueBeam
You have a strong understanding of show video systems and video over IP (AV Binloop, Brightsigns)
You have experience projection mapping.
You are very experienced with TouchDesigner.
You are interested in and have experience developing interactive and creative video.
You represent the project and department in a professional manner while working with internal and external partners.
You bring strong communication/collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a team environment.
It would be nice to have…
7+ years professional experience with immersive video and video system design.
Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal).
Experience with additional creative programming environments (Max/MSP, Jitter, Processing).
Familiarity with show related TCP/UDP protocols (UDP, OSC, AMQP)
Experience with exhibition or immersive Lighting Design and/or Audio Design.
Experience as a video editor or with video editing tools.
Experience with 7th Sense, Pandora’s Box, ScreenBerry, and/or other professional media servers.
