Position Summary:

The Project Tech – Experimental Rink Events is the behind-the-scenes hero who brings bold skating visions to life. From tech setup and lighting to floor layout and interactivity, you’ll handle the nuts and bolts of building out our next-level rink experiences. This role blends technical skill, problem-solving, and a creative spirit to deliver unforgettable installations across the country.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the installation and teardown of experimental skating environments, including synthetic ice, SlideRink setups, lighting, sound, and visuals
  • Work with the design and production teams to translate creative ideas into technical builds
  • Manage equipment transport, inventory, setup, and troubleshooting on-site
  • Assist in testing and refining interactive or tech-based features (projection mapping, lighting sequences, motion-triggered elements, etc.)
  • Collaborate with safety and operations leads to ensure secure and guest-friendly installations
  • Travel to events and serve as technical lead for setup days and during live activations
  • Maintain a high level of event readiness, with attention to weather, power, gear, and structural support
  • Provide support for prototype development and R&D on new skating concepts

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in event production, theatrical tech, AV, scenic, or experiential environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of tools, hardware, power systems, and event logistics
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in fast-paced build environments
  • Ability to lift, move, and install rink flooring and event structures
  • Problem-solver who can think creatively under pressure
  • Willing to travel and work flexible hours
  • Bonus if you’ve worked in skating, sports, theme park, or festival settings

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with LED lighting, projection, or sound installation
  • Familiarity with ice rink systems, synthetic ice or modular flooring systems
  • Interest in interactive tech, art installations, or immersive events
  • Ability to skate (but not required) would be an asset
