Location: Most of our work takes place in San José, or nearby cities.
Time: This is an Ad-Hoc role with no guarantee of hours. We anticipate the first projects under this role beginning early November.

Overview
We are seeking a Projection Mapping Specialist to lead the design, setup, and operation of projection-based installations and outdoor displays. This role requires both creative and technical expertise, from analyzing locations and selecting hardware, to configuring software, blending projectors, and scheduling shows. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with deep experience in multimedia projection and live event environments.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Production & Planning
- Assess projection locations for light conditions, throw distances, and optimal mounting positions.
- Recommend projectors, lenses, servers, and playback hardware suited to each project.
- Develop projection layouts, coverage maps, and blending strategies.
- Evaluate site safety considerations, including power distribution, truss placement, weatherproofing, and audience sightlines.
Technical Setup
- Configure and align multiple projectors for seamless edge blending and warping.
- Calibrate color and brightness for uniform image quality across surfaces.
- Implement projection mapping workflows using leading software (e.g., Resolume Arena, TouchDesigner, MadMapper, Disguise, or Watchout).
- Integrate playback systems with lighting, audio, or automation cues.
- Show Operation & Scheduling
- Create automated playback schedules for recurring or timed outdoor shows.
- Provide tools or procedures for manual override (e.g., by stage manager or operator).
- Monitor and maintain system reliability during live operation.
- Ensure all rigging, cabling, and power systems comply with electrical and structural safety standards.
Post-Production & Documentation
- Produce documentation for setup, cabling, calibration, and maintenance.
- Train on-site teams on operating or troubleshooting projection systems.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in projection mapping, media server operation, or show control systems.
- Strong understanding of video projection hardware, signal flow, and networked playback systems.
- Proficiency with at least one major projection mapping platform (e.g., Resolume Arena, MadMapper, Disguise, Watchout, TouchDesigner).
- Familiarity with Blending/warping, NDI/SDI, HDMI distribution, and video synchronization.
- Experience working with outdoor installations and environmental challenges (e.g., brightness, weatherproofing).
- Ability to manage complex setups under tight timelines and coordinate with creative, production, and technical teams.
- Strong understanding of technical and environmental safety
