In this role, you will contribute to and translate creative concepts into realistic, reliable and efficient executions.

The ideal candidate has both a wide and deep knowledge of software and hardware, but does not stop there, we are looking for someone who is creatively minded and experimenting in immersive entertainment experiences. The Lead Creative Technologist role actively concepts with the cross functional Creative and Technical counterparts, innovates and iterates on solutions, and brings concepts to life via creative technology.

This is a senior level position, proficiency in software development and technical system design skills are a must. You have a robust knowledge of coding languages and frameworks used creative endeavors (C/C++, TouchDesigner, AI, web frameworks, etc.), and are comfortable with APIs, sensors, peripherals, data input/output, social, and related technologies.

Core Responsibilities:

Experience Development and Design:

  • Leading teams of creative technologists and developers (both internal and external) to complete projects, interfacing with production, project management and creative departments from concept to delivery.
  • Working individually on implementation and software development of self-directed key components of projects, when necessary.
  • Participate in technical and creative ideation, research, and concept development of ideas for pitches.
  • Participate in and proactively develop ideas for R&D and prototyping.
  • Take the lead on recommending, architecting and guiding the appropriate technical development approach for a given project in production.
  • Work with other departmental stakeholders to contribute to project documents including diagrams, schedules, and budgets.
  • Take ownership of the technical elements of a given project and check-in regularly with other teams to ensure all aspects of the project are covered sufficiently.
  • Document projects in pre-production, production, and installation for permanent entertainment experiences.
  • Work with other technical team members to develop technical workflows

Technology Research and Audience Experience Behavior:

  • Conduct thorough, ongoing market research and competitor analysis to ensure experience design and interactions are unique, appealing, and aligned with audience expectations.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technology, products and audience preferences, incorporating insights into immersive, interactive design concepts for continued innovation.
  • Coordinate effectively with cross functional teams, optimizing the innovation, production, and delivery processes for QSAS’s experiences.

Collaboration and Brand Alignment:

  • Collaborate closely with the Creative and Content Development teams to ensure experience designs align seamlessly with content execution and strategies.
  • Ensure the quality and production value of experiences align with QSAS’s brand and immersive entertainment mission.
  • Align to the budget allocations ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining high-quality production.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design or related fields

Years & Nature of Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of overall experience in creative technology
  • Proven expertise in interactive and immersive design experiences, showcasing successful contributions to development and R&D.
  • In-depth knowledge of emerging technology, audience behavior, production, and team management.
  • Proficient collaboration with internal and cross-functional teams as well as external partners or vendors, ensuring seamless execution and success.

Technical Competencies:

  • Experience in several of the following: C/C++, Rust, Python, JavaScript, Unity, Unreal Engine, Touch Designer, Ventuz, web technologies, Mobile (iOS/Android).
  • Familiarity and experience with various A/V hardware like projectors, monitors, LED walls, lighting, audio, and computer hardware
  • Experience with spatial computing technology: VR/AR/XR hardware and software (including SDKs and tools used to develop applications)
  • Familiarity with Digital Twins and scanning experience
  • Experience with various sensor hardware components and/or solutions: ToF sensors, Lidar, and motion capture systems (i.e. OptiTrack, Vicon, etc.)
  • Systems Architecture / UX (Thinking, Design, Implementation)
  • Experience or exposure to several design products from Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.), AutoDesk (Maya, MotionBuilder, etc.), Nvidia (Omniverse), and Apple (Final Cut Pro, Motion, etc.)
  • Systems Architecture / UX (Thinking, Design, Implementation)
  • Physical Computing (Arduino/Sensors, Hacking/Repurposing Hardware, IoT, LED Lighting Systems (DMX), Raspberry Pi, PLC)
  • Game Design + Development (Graphics programming i.e. GLSL, AI Opponents, UI Design, Game Theory, Illustrations / Asset Creation, Implementation)
  • Real-Time Particle Systems (via GLSL)
