The Senior AV Specialist: Video Lead is a highly experienced AV technician that is responsible for the setup, operation, and dismantle of events in a technically correct and efficient manner. This individual is specifically skilled in the design, installation and operation of video equipment and systems and ensuring that the client’s vision is realized. Acting as a lead onsite, this individual is responsible for the seamless execution of video functions, reviewing all event information with the client and/or venue prior to the event, and providing first class service to all clients, venue teams, and guests.

Job Duties

  • Load in, Setup, Dismantle and Load out video equipment and other audio-visual elements as necessary in a technically correct and efficient manner
  • Collaborate with members of the Production team to create video signal flow diagrams, and on-site plans for smooth installations
  • Create Projection mapping plans and execute blending for large scale events
  • Read and review equipment manifests and event related documents to complete all necessary tasks
  • Provide support and training as required to Production Technicians
  • Complete inspection forms and daily reports as required
  • Comply with company, industry, and legislative health & safety policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
  • Relay critical information from the jobsite back to the office
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
  • Provide proactive and solutions oriented approach to client engagement
  • Lead crews as an on-site technical lead for overall event success
  • Other duties as required


  • High school diploma is required. Post-secondary education in event production, technical production, music production, or equivalent training is preferred
  • 5+ years of audio-visual experience, specifically in Video required
  • Minimum one year of experience with video control systems, scaling and projection blending required
  • Experience using Roland XS-1 or V-800 switchers required
  • Experience with media servers required (specifically Watchout, Resolume)
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Keynote and Google Slides required
  • Experience using Theatrixx LED Totems preferred
  • Experience with LED Walls and Processing required (familiarity with Novastar products preferred)
  • Work experience with video converters (ie. Theatrixx, Black Magic, Decimator) required
  • Work experience with professional playback devices and software required
  • Proficiency with the use of computer hardware, software, and programs, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
  • Proficient in oral and written communication in English
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Experience working in a hotel and/or convention centre environment is an asset
  • Working at heights and MEWP certification are an asset
  • Experience with Vectorworks or other drafting skill is an asset
  • Experience using Allen & Heath QU or SQ series digital audio consoles is an asset
  • Experience using Chamsys QuickQ20, Martin M2GO, and GrandMA lighting console is an asset
  • Experience rigging is an asset
  • Experience with Crestron and QSYS systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of current workplace health & safety regulations, fire & building codes, and AODA regulations in relation to the live entertainment industry is an asset

  • $30.00 – $37.50 / hour, based on experience
