Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world’s preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.
A Senior Creative Technologist is wanted by the AMNH in New York, NY, job duties include, but are not limited to:

- Lead the design and programming of media interactives for permanent halls and special exhibitions.
- Conceptualize exhibit pieces, produce wireframes and prototypes as well as finished experiences along with documentation.
- Design and prototype interactive experiences. This will include wireframes and diagrams, mockups and working prototypes for interactives.
- Program interactive experiences.
- Collaborate on code and produce graphics to create interactives.
- Documentation of interactives. Write procedures including systems diagrams, photos or illustrations to aid in the continued use of these interactives in this and other venues.
- Collaborate with media producers and production teams to participate in media installation from pitch to build-out.
- Understand interactive technologies and how to integrate them into the playful museum experiences.
- Prototype in both software and hardware for interactive installations.
- Develop detailed user flows, wireframes and other UX deliverables to communicate user flow and interaction clearly.
The salary for the Senior Creative Technologist is $107,287/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of graphic and UX/UI design (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma); the development with Game engines, AR/VR (Unity); 3D scanning and Photogrammetry (Reality Capture); sensor software and hardware, physical computing (Arduino, Depth cameras, digital/analog sensors); embedded computing (Arduino, Phidgets); and in lighting design (DMX).
- Master’s degree in Interactive Telecommunications, Digital Media, Media Arts or Game Development.
- 1 year of experience required in job offered or similar occupation.
