About Us:
Jen Lewin Studio, located in Brooklyn, NY, creates large-scale interactive public art that merges art, architecture, and technology. Led by internationally renowned artist Jen Lewin, our projects engage communities worldwide. We are seeking a Senior Designer to join our close-knit team and play a critical role in both the design and final build phases of large-scale public art installations.
Working at Jen Lewin Studio:
This position is ideal for someone with deep experience in both design and fabrication. You will work hands-on with a team to turn conceptual designs into realized projects, balancing creative design with the practicalities of fabrication, logistics, and installation. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio demonstrating experience with completed design projects and a proven ability to coordinate and manage final build phases. Please note, this is exclusively an in-person opportunity at our Bushwick studio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and update technical drawings and 3D models for large-scale installations
- Coordinate and manage the fabrication and construction phases of projects, ensuring all aspects are ready for installation
- Collaborate closely with design, fabrication, and installation teams to maintain project timelines and quality
- Create diagrams and technical documentation to explain complex design ideas and processes to both creative and technical teams
- Solve design and build challenges with a thorough understanding of material limitations, logistics, and construction methods
- Manage project documentation, submissions, and administrative tasks
Requirements:
- 3-4 years of experience in design, fabrication, and construction
- Proven ability to see projects through from design to completion
- Proficiency in Rhino
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Sheets
- Experience with materials, fabrication methods, and construction details
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for project installations
- Ability to work in the U.S. and possess a valid international passport
