Who are we hiring?

MSG Sphere is seeking an individual who has strong experience in show control programming for live events and fixed installations. As the Show Control Programmer, your primary task will be to program centralized cue sequences triggering various subsystems (lighting, audio, video, etc) for a variety of live and pre-programmed events. This role requires stellar communication skills to interpret interdepartmental goals at every level. Flexibility and quick thinking are key to working in this fast-paced live production environment.

What will you do?

Event Management
  • Program Show Control cueing for a variety of show styles including residencies, concerts, sports, live action, and corporate
  • Provide Show Control solutions for temporary and permanent Audio, Visual, Lighting, etc. installations.

Systems Management
  • Provide programming and scripting support to other production departments.
  • Participate in the design, development, implementation and support of AV, Control, and Network systems.
  • Monitor control systems to ensure systems operate reliably and within established performance criteria.
  • Develop custom equipment drivers, control methodologies, architectures, monitoring dashboards, and operational GUI’s.
  • Store, retrieve and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.

Business/Process Management
  • Be highly collaborative and focused on sharing details routinely and consistently with team members, but have the ability to self manage assignments and work autonomously when necessary.
  • Demonstrate a persistent optimism and ability to navigate challenges in a way that produces value, exceeds expectations, and promotes company success

What do you need to succeed?

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Proficiency in Javascript.
  • Proven experience with electronic control systems and signal processing.
  • Knowledge of traditional computer programming languages (C++, Java, C#, etc) is a plus.
  • Familiarity and experience with operations of common live production platforms (ETC, GrandMA, Tait Navigator, audio consoles, etc) is a plus.

Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Knowledge of the following highly preferred:
    • Show Control Systems Programming and Operation (Medialon, Alcorn McBride, etc.)
    • Q-SYS Audio & Control (Q-SYS certification preferred)
    • Scripting (Lua, Python, SQL, JavaScript, Node-Red, etc.)
    • Media Server Programming and Operation (7thSense, Disguise, Watchout, TouchDesigner, Pandoras Box, etc.)
    • Solid knowledge of IP network design, deployment and operation.
  • Experience with Smart Monkeys’ ISAAC platform is a significant plus, as is familiarity with relays and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Familiarity with LAWO or other broadcast systems is a plus.
  • Skills that emphasize creative problem solving, strategic thinking, time management, and strong interpersonal abilities which contribute to the ability to resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
  • The ability to efficiently work in a team environment, but use sound business judgement and work independently when needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills emphasizing attention to detail
  • Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationships with a diverse group.
  • Demonstrate integrity, tact, diplomacy, and a commitment to company values and principles.
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to remain flexible and calm in high-pressure situations and adjust as multiple moving parts consistently change.

  • This is a 100% onsite role, with limited potential for remote work on non-event days.
  • Work in a production schedule with the ability to work event hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
