Project-Based Role: This is a project-based role, with an anticipated duration of 2+ years.
Location: On-site in Santa Fe, or remote, providing the candidate resides in one of the following markets: Santa Fe, NM; Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; New York, NY; or Los Angeles, CA
Compensation: The starting base salary for this position is $122,000.
Deadline: The deadline for submitting applications for this position is 06/13/2025. Meow Wolf reserves the right to extend this deadline if needed.
Job Summary:
The Show Systems Architect (SSA) is a subject matter expert (SME) in exhibition show systems. They are embedded in the project teams that design new exhibitions, working with creative storytellers and artists as well as SMEs responsible for systems for each discipline. The SSA is responsible for informing, coordinating, and approving equipment and architecture choices across technical disciplines while considering the development efforts and future plans of the company as a whole. The SSA is responsible for Meow Wolf making good decisions when developing Show Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on project teams in Audio, Video, Lighting, Interactives, Show Control, and Networking systems
  • Collaborate with the Show Systems team to create a cohesive show system architecture
  • Document the architecture as it relates to the project and deliver to the project team
  • Educate the project team and SMEs on relevant portions of the show system architecture
  • Represent company goals such as reliability, ongoing development, app and game development to the project team and SMEs
  • Work with the project design assist vendors to ensure the show system meets Meow Wolf’s expectations
  • Identify technical and challenges that require further research and development that can benefit multiple projects and future company goals
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication between disciplines and departments as it relates to show systems
  • Review and approve equipment choices for all show systems
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in show system design and engineering in the location based entertainment industry
  • Minimum of 3 years experience designing and/or programming Q-SYS systems
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working directly with creative artists and storytellers.
  • Advanced knowledge of installed Audio, Video, Lighting, Interactive, Show Control, and Network systems.
  • Familiarity with Cycling ‘76 MAX, TouchDesigner, Arduino, Brightsign, Visionary AV over IP, and Advatech.
  • Industry certifications in QSC Q-SYS, Dante, Negear AV, ETC Mosaic and EOS.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed must be representative of the knowledge, skills, minimum education, training, licensure, experience, and/or ability required.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners. This position also works in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/ or enclosed spaces.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical ability to walk, stand, take stairs/slides/elevators, and navigate the elements during the day and night. Employee may be required to remain in a sitting or standing position for prolonged periods, and repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Work Schedule:
This is a Full-Time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
This position does not require supervisory responsibility.
Travel:
Travel is required for this position and varies by phase. This may include business trips and temporary assignments as necessary.
During the design phases, this position will require some business travel (10%-25%). During the production and installation phases, this position will require extensive travel (30%+).
