Position Summary:

In addition to the four academic departments, the School of the Arts and Communication is home to TCNJ’s Center for the Arts which hosts arts and cultural events in a variety of specialized state-of-the-art facilities and venues. These include a Main Stage, a Black Box Theater, a Concert Hall, an Art Gallery, a TV studio, audio recording facilities and WTSR radio station.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the equipment distribution operations in two locations; the Art & Interactive Multimedia Building and Kendall Hall.
  • Oversee student workers to assist in the maintenance of the Large and Medium Format Printer Rooms and the Lighting Lab.
  • Manage scheduling of production studios including the Lighting lab, Medium and Large Format Printer Rooms, TV Studio, Edit Suites and Audio Lab.
  • Work closely with Faculty and Students to ensure that Photo, Video, Audio, Lighting and Digital Media equipment is maintained properly, and make recommendations for improvements, training, and upgrades as needs arise.
  • Ensure that academic equipment needs in the AIMM and Kendall Hall are being met. Analyze Cage operation and department needs, research solutions and best practices on campus, and develop solution proposals.
  • Hire, train, schedule, mentor and supervise student assistants in support of maintenance and distribution of computer, audio and lens-based equipment inventory. Duties include equipment procurement, distribution, collection, tracking and repair, and database system management.
  • Provides oversight, maintenance, training materials, equipment and supplies procurement, and upgrade recommendations for lighting Studio and printer rooms.
  • Keep accurate records, including operating policies and procedures, student time logs, incident reports, safety training logs, school asset inventory, repair and maintenance records, and correspondence.
  • Work with IT Staff, Student lab assistants to implement and maintain effective software support for AIMM and Kendall computer labs curricular needs.
  • Manage expendable supplies for equipment rooms including, batteries, cables, and accessories for photo and multimedia production equipment, etc.
  • Provide consult and support to collaborative efforts and initiatives in the TCNJ Center for the Arts and the School of the Arts and Communication.
  • Co-ordinate School inventory assessment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in digital media, lens-based media, or a related field, and 3-5 years of related professional work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff training, supervision, and mentorship.
  • Experience and ability to use, train and troubleshoot use of photo/video equipment, multimedia hardware and software, hand tools, hardware and software used in typical arts and broadcast studio spaces.
  • Familiarity and experience with building systems, project management, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Familiarity and experience with spreadsheet, and database management software.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working practices with faculty, students, and administration.
  • Knowledge, and familiarity with, photography, videography and audio and support equipment.
  • Knowledge and ability with current digital media equipment, software, operation, and production standards.
  • Experience and ability to use, train and troubleshoot use of tools, related equipment, hardware and software used in typical arts and broadcast studios, labs, and production environments.
  • Ability to quickly analyze and troubleshoot building issues, studio equipment problems, and find cost and time efficient solutions.
  • Familiarity and experience with safety standards in the arts, state construction code compliance, and ADA standards in the Arts.
