The NMHU Media Arts & Technology Department invites applications for a full-time, term instructor in Media Arts beginning August 10, 2025. We seek applications from candidates working at the intersection of creative production, cultural awareness, and technology. Experience in graphic design, photography and/or film is ideal.
A successful candidate situates their practice within theoretical and cultural approaches to teaching and research. The candidate should be well versed in media history and theory, and able to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in a diverse interdisciplinary program that emphasizes convergent technology skills used in digital storytelling along with industry-standard production. We seek candidates whose teaching focuses on digital media practices, installation and their area of specialization.

$56,650 Target Starting Salary
Duties and Responsibilities
The position requires a 24 credit hour per year teaching load. The candidate will participate in curriculum development, administering both graduate and undergraduate curriculum and a willingness to engage with students beyond class time.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MFA or MDes in Graphic Design (Visual Communications), Photography, Film or a related field, and have a minimum of 2 years of teaching and/or professional experience. Applicants should feel comfortable with all levels of industry-standard digital production in their specialties, from beginner to advanced.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in graphic design and/or photography fields.
Additional areas of focus, such as film, multi-media, and interactive installation are encouraged.
Some professional experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Applicants should be comfortable with industry standard design, photo and/or video production editing software.
