THEATRICAL ASSOCIATE LIGHTING DESIGNER/MASTER ELECTRICIAN

Production: AN ENCHANTED EVENING

Description: The Master Electrician reports to the Lighting Designer and is responsible for hang and focus, labeling, maintaining equipment, programming the light board, and other duties deemed necessary. When the Lighting Designer is not on-site, report to the Production Manager.

Pay Rate/Dates: 23/hr, May 17 & August 23 – September 7, 2023

Responsibilities:

(1) Evaluates the lighting plot to generate necessary paperwork for load in and lighting changeovers

(2) Supervises the hang and focus of lighting equipment

(3) Ability to read the lighting plot, lead the hang, circuiting, and patching of lighting rig during load-in and changeovers between productions

(4) Attend Orientation Day, Designer Run-Thru, Production Meetings during Tech Week

(5) Complete lighting changeover 3 days before Designer Run-Thru between productions

(6) Maintains lighting equipment and reports to supervisors when extensive repairs or replacements are needed.

(7) Re-focus lights following Designer Run-Thru with Lighting Designer & Technicians

(8) Program/edit lights with Lighting Designer from 7p-1a at park during Tech Weeks

(9) Edit light and follow spot cue sheets, send to Production Stage Manager, Spotlight Operators, and Production Manager

(10) Safely strike power distribution during load-out

(11) Report all injuries, incidences, and equipment failures to Production Manager

(12) Alert Production Manager to any physical needs or safety concerns requiring maintenance including electrical or structural concerns in performance space or backstage

Skills:

  • Strong communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of power distribution and safety
  • Extensive knowledge with various intelligent fixtures, ETC Eos software/boards, LED tape and practical installations
  • Knowledge of theatrical lighting systems and equipment
  • Experience with Hang and Focus from a light plot and designer instruction
  • Experience with DMX equipment, atmospherics moving lights and LED fixtures
  • Working knowledge of theatrical rigging, electricity, wiring and soldering
  • Ability to work as part of a team but also take on individual responsibilities
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and comfortable working at heights
