TouchDesigner Intern

Here at Concept Lounge, we are looking to add to our growing list of Touch Design Interns (Software Operators) to assist with the setup, mapping and operation of our live events.

We’re looking for passionate creators who can design, map, and operate TouchDesigner networks while assisting with full onsite AV setup and teardown.

If you live inside TOPs, CHOPs, SOPs, and DATs, love integrating sensors, and enjoy bringing generative content to life in the real world—we want you.

Responsibilities

TouchDesigner + Interactive Media Work

  • Build, modify, and operate TouchDesigner networks for live shows (TOP chains, CHOP logic, GLSL shaders, instancing, UI panels).
  • Create interactive visual systems using Kinect / RealSense, OSC, MIDI, DMX, audio-reactive pipelines, and custom parameter control.
  • Integrate and test media systems for LED walls, projectors, lasers, and sensor-driven installations.
  • Troubleshoot TouchDesigner in real-time: performance chops, GPU load, python scripts, node cooking issues, network latency.

Mapping & Show Operation

  • Projection mapping in TouchDesigner using the Kantan Mapper, CamSchnappr, or custom mapping workflows.
  • Operate lighting, audio-reactive FX, and real-time generative layers during live events.
  • Sync visuals with DJs, bands, and performers using SMPTE/OSC/MIDI.

AV Setup / Dismantle / Logistics

  • Set up and strike LED walls, projectors, sensors, rigging, and media playback systems.
  • Run and test signal flow (HDMI/SDI, ArtNet, NDI, Dante/Audio where applicable).
  • Ensure all equipment is properly secured, stored, and transported between events.
  • Support the Technical Director and Logistics Manager with onsite troubleshooting, tech rehearsals, timelines, and power/network planning.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years experience working with TouchDesigner or similar node-based realtime systems.
  • Experience with interactive installations, projection mapping, or LED content workflows.
  • Comfortable operating live AV: wireless mics, DJ monitors, lighting controllers, audio levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Valid driver’s license; personal vehicle an asset.
  • Ability to travel to event locations and work flexible hours.

Preferred TouchDesigner Experience

(Not required, but a big advantage)

  • TOP compositing, CHOP audio-reactivity, SOP modeling, DAT scripting, Python callbacks.
  • Kinect / RealSense / LiDAR integration.
  • Working with DMX, ArtNet, Resolume, MadMapper, or similar tools.
  • GLSL shaders, instancing setups, UI widgets, custom parameters.
  • Experience with multi-projector setups, warping/blending, and LED wall pipelines.
