Creative Technology Assistant Producer

Vacationland + Zen Zone Digital

We are looking to hire a full-time project-based Creative Technology Assistant Producer Unicorn to work on a multi-faceted large-scale permanent installation. Our team is responsible for the technical execution of multi-media experiences: Media Playback, Projection, Touch Screens, LED Floors, Sensors, etc.

You will be working with our team of developers, creative technologists, and other departments including: creative, production, scenic, lighting, sound, technical direction.

While this role isn’t a dedicated executor of things, we are looking for someone who can pivot and fill in the gaps when necessary. In that sense, this is a very hands-on position. We are looking for someone with some combination of the skills required, not necessarily the full skillset.

Some good examples of that could be:

  • Something is wrong with the delivery codec, find a new one, load-test it, QC it, reformat all delivery media in that codec.
  • The projector black levels aren’t matching between projectors in their blend area: make it not that.
  • These projectors needs to be quad distorted, blended, and mapped and our AV vendor needs some help and supervision
  • 3 Brightsigns needs to be authored and the rest of the team is busy. Figure out how to use Brightwall (if you don’t already know it), author those Brighhtsigns.

We do require a proven track record of producing / managing / coordinating experiential projects with a physical (“Real life”) component.

Here are some things we’d like to see you have some combo of background in:

  • Coordinating and communicating with vendors, creative partners, and clients
  • Working knowledge of Project Management software like – like Air Table, Asana, Jira, Trello
  • Experience with scenic integration, projector studies, CAD
  • Client facing master control logic
  • QSC systems
  • Playback
  • Interactive/Tracking/Sensors – Pi/Arduino
  • Show Control
  • IT and networking skills
  • Post-Production skills
  • Web skills
  • The old guard of Creative Technology programs: Isadora, Mad, Max, Processing, OF, etc
  • Any kind of creative code work
  • Integrative coordination (e.g. installing sensors in walls)
  • Soldering
  • Proof of concept tools
  • Any other programming languages

We are a team of Creative Technologists, in the broadest definition of the term, coming from various disciplines, who make big things and little things. Sometimes tactile. Sometimes visual. Often both!

This is a full time contract role with some weeks more intensive than others. The role goes Mid-April through Mid-July – with the possibility of extending based on project timeline. Your rate will be based on experience, but we are market rate for the things and we’re cool and fair about that!
