Transfr creates job-training simulations in virtual reality designed by each industry that teaches novices in the same manner that experts master their crafts – through trial and error. Data-driven simulations work like virtual coaches, adapting to every person’s pace and skills while responding to their mistakes. Our immersive Experience Training method helps trainees build confidence in their knowledge, skills and abilities.
We are looking for a XR Designer to be a key contributor on our VR Studios Team, helping to create the next generation of immersive training experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and define simulation play spaces before development begins; support designers with appropriate layout tools and guidelines.
  • Partner with instructional designers and developers with regard to VR gameplay, appropriate mechanics, and immersive user experience.
  • Build and iterate on fully interactive simulations using standard Unity tools as well as our custom SDK.
  • Work closely with the other designers, artists, producers, programmers, program managers and QA to develop and polish simulations and interactions as well as visual elements.
  • Pitch and iterate on design directions for individual simulations, and incorporate feedback from various stakeholders to improve the design during production.
  • Contribute to the design and upkeep of reusable interaction components, and work with our development team to improve the workflow of our SDK.
  • Engage in design upkeep and modification that falls outside the standard design process, such as: sim redesigns, audits of modules, creation of new UIs, and editing tasks that fall across multiple simulations.

Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of 3D math, physics for game simulations
  • Strong collaboration and design presentation skills
  • XR game design, UI/UX and interaction design for immersive environments, as well as game development
  • Experience building commercial software using Unity a must
  • Experience with Git or Perforce in the context of game development
  • Experience building foundational and reusable frameworks and platforms
  • Ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems while adhering to mature software development practices
  • Strong portfolio showing examples of polished XR mechanics and designs
  • Demonstrated ability to establish objectives, identify problems, analyze data, and creatively deliver solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with self-motivation, creativity, and high standards
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Previous experience working with remote studios and external vendors is a plus
What We Offer:
The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $90K and $100K, with the actual base salary amount dependent on a number of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s credentials, relevant experience, and primary job location. In addition to salary this role will be eligible for additional company benefits such as stock options, 401(k), paid vacation and sick time, and medical/dental/vision insurance.
